Problem Management Plus (PM+) Refresher Training

MIDRIFT HURINET facilitates a two-day PM+ refresher training targeting PM+ supervisors from Nakuru Town East, Nakuru Town West, and Naivasha Sub Counties. (10th -11th February 2025)

The objectives of the refresher training are;

1.     To reinforce the core strategies integral to PM+, such as managing stress, addressing problems, encouraging positive activities, and strengthening social support networks.

2.     To enhance the methodological competencies of PM+ supervisors. This includes bolstering skills in content presentation, role-playing, case studies, modeling, and group work

3.     To foster continuous learning and adaptation among PM+ practitioners.

These will enhance the capacity of the supervisors to refine their skills in a controlled environment through role-playing.

Case studies are analyzed collaboratively, providing insights into diverse challenges and effective application of PM+ techniques.

Group discussions foster peer learning, enabling participants to share experiences and strategies, thereby deepening their understanding of the core principles.

Supervisors revisit and deepen their understanding of core PM+ strategies, such as managing stress, addressing problems, encouraging positive activities, and strengthening social support networks.

This reinforcement enables them to provide more nuanced and effective guidance to practitioners under their supervision.

Refresher training emphasizes the enhancement of facilitation techniques, including content presentation, role-playing, case studies, modeling, and group work.

By honing these skills, supervisors become more proficient in delivering training sessions that are engaging and impactful, thereby better preparing practitioners to implement PM+ interventions in diverse settings.

Retraining fosters a culture of continuous learning and adaptation among PM+ supervisors.

By encouraging the sharing of experiences, discussing challenges encountered in the field, and collaboratively exploring solutions, retraining cultivates a dynamic community of practice.

This collaborative approach ensures that PM+ interventions remain relevant, culturally sensitive, and effective in addressing the nuanced needs of individuals across various contexts.

Fostering a culture of continuous learning and adaptation among Problem Management Plus (PM+) supervisors is essential for maintaining the effectiveness and relevance of mental health interventions.

By embracing ongoing education and flexibility, supervisors can stay abreast of the latest research, methodologies, and cultural considerations, ensuring approaches remain evidence-based and culturally sensitive.

This commitment to perpetual growth not only enhances individual competencies but also elevates the overall quality of care provided to those in need.

A culture of continuous learning encourages supervisors to reflect on their experiences critically, share insights with peers, and collaboratively develop innovative solutions to emerging challenges.

This collaborative environment fosters the exchange of diverse perspectives, leading to the refinement of PM+ strategies and the adaptation of interventions to suit varying contexts better.

Such a dynamic approach ensures that PM+ remains responsive to the evolving needs of communities, ultimately contributing to more resilient and empowered individuals.

Promoting continuous learning and adaptation within the PM+ framework cultivates a proactive and resilient community of practitioners.

This culture not only supports professional development but also ensures that interventions are consistently aligned with best practices and tailored to the unique needs of each population served.

By valuing and investing in ongoing education and adaptability, PM+ supervisors can effectively navigate the complexities of mental health care, providing impactful and sustainable support to those they serve.

This multifaceted approach ensures that supervisors not only revisit foundational concepts but also enhance their practical application, leading to more effective support for individuals in distress.

It has also been emphasized that refresher trainings serve as a pivotal platform for supervisors to adeptly manage emerging issues.

These sessions are designed to reinforce core strategies such as stress management, problem-solving, behavioral activation, and strengthening social support networks.

By revisiting these foundational techniques, practitioners are better equipped to address new challenges that come up in their practice.

In the ongoing refresher training, supervisors will engage in interactive methodologies, including role-playing, case studies, and group discussions.

These approaches not only solidify existing knowledge but also foster the development of innovative solutions to unforeseen challenges.

By simulating real-world scenarios, practitioners will practice and refine their responses to emerging issues in a controlled environment, enhancing their readiness to implement effective interventions in their communities.

Equipped with refreshed skills and strategies, PM+ supervisors will confidently navigate the complexities of their communities.

They are more prepared to identify and address emerging issues promptly, applying tailored interventions that resonate with the unique needs of individuals facing adversity.

This proactive approach ensures that support remains relevant and impactful, fostering resilience and well-being within the community.
