RESILIENCE, PEACE & STABILITY PROGRAM (RPS)

MIDRIFT HURINET in partnership with Act Change & Transform (ACT!) is implementing the Resilience Peace and Stability program in Nakuru and Baringo counties in Kenya. With support from Royal Danish Embassy, the program aims to decrease violent extremism, political and natural resource-based conflicts.

The main objective of the program is a decrease in violent extremism and political and natural resource-based conflicts in Nakuru and Baringo Counties.

The expected outcomes are:

  1.  Enhanced cooperation and trust between communities and government/police based on respect for human rights and good governance.
  2. Enhanced relations between groups and communities affected by conflict (inter-ethnic, intra ethnic, other conflictual in-   groups and out-groups.
  3. Increased anchoring of at-risk individuals in the communities through improved messaging, economic opportunities,  social linkages and sense of belonging especially for women, youth and vulnerable communities to reduce pull and push   factors towards violence.

The 5-year program is set to promote collective action for collective impact in the reduction of political and resource conflicts and violent extremism and to enhance sustainable management of land and forests towards climate change mitigation and adaptation through enhanced Multi-sectoral, Coordination and Collaboration.

RPS prioritizes continued engagement with vulnerable groups such as youth, women and people living with disabilities to build their capacities on financial literacy and linkages to economic opportunities including affirmative action funds and  county government livelihoods support with end-goal of increasing the anchoring of at-risk individuals in the communities through improved messaging, economic opportunities, social linkages, and a sense of belonging especially for women, youth and vulnerable communities to reduce pull and push factors towards violence.
