Creating peacefula and fair election

This study assesses the impact of the MIDRIFT–DIGNITY Partnership Program in promoting peaceful elections in Nakuru and Baringo Counties. It highlights lessons learned, prospects for replication, and the role of the Place-Based Leadership Development (PBLD) model—an approach that builds trust and collaboration among local leaders to prevent violence. Since 2014, the partnership has brought together state and non-state actors to address election-related tensions in violence-prone areas like Nakuru and Naivasha, expanding to Baringo in 2022. Key strategies included leadership training, political education, multisectoral coordination, media engagement, and fostering trust through backbone support. The report showcases how rapid, locally-driven interventions can effectively enhance safety and security around elections.
